Delta Discovery

Located on the Dart River delta, north of Glenorchy, this is the Ultimate Self-Drive adventure for all ages. Take charge of our electric 4WD vehicles, loaded with interactive GPS technology to explore this pristine wilderness at your own pace. Discover the area’s surprising wildlife, history and geology, while enjoying the breath-taking scenery used in some of New Zealand’s most iconic movies – including the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Tours depart daily 10:00am and 2:00pm. 4WD vehicles, GPS navigation and a pre-tour briefing is provided. Allow two hours for the tour.

Hiking

There are many day hike options available in the area from a one hour stroll to a full eight hour day hike. Glenorchy Adventures can organise guided hikes, or map and track information if you would prefer not to be guided. Your transport to the tracks can be organised. This can include a Routeburn Track car relocation service with Trackhopper from one end of the track to the other. Trackhopper also offer track car relocation services for Milford Sound and Greenstone, Caples.

Scenic Helicopter Tours

From a 20 minute local scenic flight including mountain top landing to a stunning flight over the Southern Alps to Milford Sound – it’s all available from Heli Glenorchy. Glenorchy Adventures have a full list of Heli Glenorchy excursions available with prices. Heli Fishing or Heli Skiing (Skiing available during July - September only) are available, or take an enchanting heli/cruise/heli option from Glenorchy to Milford Sound over the Southern Alps, and join a cruise on the world-famous fiord. Scenic Flights to Milford Sound

Kayaking

Join Rippled Earth on a kayak adventure across one of New Zealand's most scenic mountain lakes within the Southern Alps. Two great kayaking tours leave from Glenorchy shore's at the head of Lake Wakatipu. Our Island Safari tour take you on a half day kayaking tour to the conservation reserves Pig and Pigeon Islands. Exclusive to Rippled Earth these islands are a paddlers paradise. From December to March we offer an evening kayak tours across Lake Wakatipu for dinner at the historic Kinloch lodge. After dinner enjoy a quiet paddle back across on sun down.

Horse Trekking

Paradise Zipline

The Paradise Ziplines experience is an 8-line zipline course, which takes you on a very diverse journey by wire and walking track through the pristine native forest of the Oxburn stream valley. The lines vary; from up high with stunning views out to Mt Aspiring National Park and Paradise, through the beautiful native forest canopy, to just metres above an alpine stream.
